1) Tell me about yourself

Exemplos:

“I got my first job when I was 18 years-old. I was also starting college at the time, so I worked and studied. It was a rewarding experience. I learned a lot about time management and about handling stress and pressure”; “Some of the most important things I have learned working in this field are the importance of getting the best results and keeping a healthy relationship with my colleagues”; I do volunteer work at an animal shelter. Working with enthusiastic people for a good cause is very motivating”.

2) What is your greatest strength?

Exemplos:

“I am passionate about the mechanics of the financial markets. I have studied and worked in the area for ten years and I like to keep myself updated. I can provide efficient insight on what are the most valuable trends of investment nowadays”; “I would say that managing teams is what I’m best at. In the past five years, I have been responsible for leading important projects that were praised for achieving the results that we wanted. And we usually finished ahead of schedule”.

3) What is your greatest weakness?

Exemplo:

“When I was in college, I used to leave some of my assignments until the last minute. I knew I had to change that, so I started learning about how important it is to plan ahead and finish early. That way, I can move on to the next project with time to spare”.

4) Why should we hire you?

Exemplos:

“Working in education requires a great deal of specific knowledge, patience and a strong rapport with students. I believe I have demonstrated in my previous work experiences that I have what it takes to a perform at a high level”; “I am familiar with the industry and I have good connections and excellent communication skills to be an asset to this company”.

5) Why do you want to work for this company?

Exemplos:

“This job is a perfect fit for me at this point in my life because it offers both the chance of doing what I love in the short term and the possibility of developing my career in the long term”; “I have always wanted to be a part of a company that is on the rise. In my research, I have found very impressive statistics that point to a bright future for this company. I would relish the opportunity of being a part of it as it takes its rightful place in the industry”.

6) Why did you leave your last job?

Exemplos:

“I realized that my hard work was not being compensated enough. I had an honest conversation with my boss about what I could expect from the future working for that company. That was when it became clear to me that I needed to move on and find a more suitable challenge”; “I was asked to leave my position due to downsizing, which was forced by the circumstances of the economy. Although I liked my job, I see this as an opportunity to get a job which is more aligned with my abilities and with where I want to take my career”.

7) Describe a difficult work experience that you’ve had and how you handled it.

Exemplos:

“As a manager at a company that was having problems due to the economic crisis, I was forced to let some of our staff go. It was a very difficult decision that took a lot of analysis. In the end, we did what was best for organization and everyone working for it”; “I was part of a team that had problems communicating. The atmosphere was very stressful and some of my colleagues didn’t get along very well with one another. I organized a meeting with them to discuss those issues and to think of ways we could work professionally to meet our goals as a team. In the end, I was praised by my superiors on how I handled that problem”.

Good luck on your next job interview!
